Children love music. They inherently love to sing and dance and perform.
At Brant, our music program starts with our infants and toddlers – singing songs, listening to music and making sounds with just about any resource.
In Juniors, they begin to learn to sing simple songs together and will perform at Christmas and at year end for their parents.
In Pre-School, basic instruments are introduced to accompany singing. The concerts for parents are longer with more complex verses to remember.
Our Kindergarten Program is filled with music and dancing, be it square dancing, the chicken dance, freeze dance or the infamous turkey tango in Senior Kindergarten! The two concerts each year become quite sophisticated as the children have had many opportunities to perform in front of an audience. This too is an important activity for developing self-confidence.
A unique music feature of Brant’s Kindergarten is the introduction of Vocal Music. Under the direction of Margo Jamieson, a well-known Burlington pianist, children explore rhythm, pitch and group singing. By the end of SK, the children develop confidence and pride in their achievement of becoming a member of Brant’s Kindergarten choir.
