Full Day

FULL-DAY PROGRAMS . . . Location: 3180 New Street

We offer full-day programs from infants through to Grade 1.   Although we recognize the importance of play, Brant provides a fairly structured environment with an emphasis on the academic subjects of language and literacy, basic mathematics, science and technology. All programs include creative arts, drama, and music and movement.  Our kindergarten programs add computers, Wiz-Tech and French to their curriculum.

Brant has a reputation in Burlington for its full-time JK and SK programs as an alternative to Board programs.  Here, our objective is to develop in our students not only the phonetic skills necessary for reading but also the motivation and interest in learning.  Our SK graduates enter Grade 1 with strong cognitive, personal and social skills required for success during their school years.

1.  INFANT AND TODDLER PROGRAM

  • Our Infant and Toddler Program emphasizes excellent care, the enhancement of language, fine motor skills and physical development.
  • We include Sign Language in the children’s program.
  • We provide individual care as children develop at very different rates during their early years.

2.  PRE-SCHOOL PROGRAM (2 1/2 - 4 years)

  • In this program, we focus on phonics, numbers and numeration, and both fine and gross motor development.
  • We begin to incorporate three of our enrichment programs: Roots & Shoots, French, and Jr. Wiz-Tech.

3.  JUNIOR KINDERGARTEN (4 - 5 years)

  • With our small teacher-child ratios, our consistent environment and our enriched curriculum, we take the children well beyond the Ministry’s Kindergarten Guidelines.
  • Our JK program includes Roots & Shoots, French, Wiz-Tech and an optional swimming program.
  • Please note that Kindergarten is NOT mandatory.  Parents and many teachers choose BRANT as an alternative and BEST START for their children before they enter Grade 1.

4.  SENIOR KINDERGARTEN (5-6 years)

  • Brant’s SK program has a reputation among educators in Burlington as being "excellent".  The single class has three SK teachers.  Again, working in small groups, children progress significantly in the five curriculum areas - language and literacy, mathematics, science and technology, personal and social development, and the arts.  Most of our students begin to read during their SK year, or have the basic language skills to read before graduating into grade 1.
